Q 1、Is polishing-deburring by PECM the same as by conventional immersion process?

A Both the two processes are based on the principle ofanodic dissolution, but they are different technologies.

The common electrolytic polishing equipment is mainlycomposed of the DC power supply and a simple electrolytic cell. The cathode isa versatile metal plate, and the workpiece hanged on hooks, is immersed inthe electrolyte, containing strong acid or alkali and heated during the processing. It is known as "cooking", and there will emit vaporized corrosive gas.And the electrolytes have to be discarded after used a period of time, seriously contaminating the environment. This electrolytic process can notaccurately control the removal location and amount.

PECM utilizes neutral industrial salt solution aselectrolyte, nearly used endlessly through the closed filtration system with nowaste and no pollution. The cathode can’t be used universally, because it isspecially designed based on the workpiece with specified shape. Processingequipment is the NC machine tools, which capable to adjust various parameters simultaneously, such as power supply, movement, andelectrolyte solution, to precisely control the location and amount of removal inprocessing, and realize precision electrochemical machining.

Q 2、What kind of material is PECM suitable for?

A PECM can be used to process virtually all metallicmaterial in theory.

Q 3、What kind of workpiece is ECM suitable for?

A PECM is a non-traditionalmachining, having the potential to machine all metallic parts. But fromefficiency and economic perspective, it’s more suitable for these workpieces: metallicmaterial after heat treatment, super hard materials (such as nickel-basedsuperalloy), the soft material (like niobium alloy), as well as the processhaving difficulty and high cost in using alternative machining method.

Q 4、What is the basis to choose PECM?

A PECM can machine allelectrically conductive materials: exotic material, superhard materials, thesoft material. From economic perspective, PECM is suitable for the process havingdifficulty and high cost in using conventional methods.

Q 5、What do the main costs spent on in batch processing?

A During machiningprocess, the main consumption is electricity, and a small amount is water (tapwater), so the main costs are spent on electricity. The amount of electricitycharge depends on the amount of removal of workpiece and the accuracyrequirements of the processing.

Q 6、Is there any sewage discharge?

A

No. PECMutilized the electrolyte solution, nearly used indefinitely through the closed filtration andsupply system, with no sewage and no pollution.
